Local Work Group Meeting
What is a Local Work Group Meeting?
The national system of conservation districts is set up to address issues of concern in each district's area of coverage. As you can imagine, each county has specific natural resource concerns that may not be shared by other areas. The local work group process:
- Solicits input from county farmers, producers, and citizens
- Addresses cropland, pastureland and forestland separately in a survey the district distributes
- Gives everyone a voice on determining conservation issues within our county
- Determines biggest resource concerns within our county
- Reports these resource concerns to NRCS on the state level for prioritization
- Ultimately brings federal funds into the county via NRCS to address concerns
Be a part of the process.
We are excited to get your input for this important part of the process in determining the biggest resource concerns locally. This is the core of why Conservation Districts exist. These concerns will be forwarded to the NRCS and will help them prioritize funding for the state.
You can participate by completing our survey. The district will host a meeting at 11 a.m. June 25 to discuss the survey results.
Conservation Districts addressing conservation resource concerns today helps to avoid another conservation crisis (such as the Dust Bowl Era) tomorrow. You are all champions of locally led conservation and we need your input!
Please consider attending or asking someone else in your organization to participate. For more information, contact Lainey Veltri at 864-920-6405.
Thank you so much for your involvement in Greenville County agriculture. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to call or email.
