What is a Bioswale and a Regenerative Stormwater Conveyance?

A typical bioswale is long, linear and shallow planted area. It is used to collect runoff water from hard surfaces such as roads, parking lots, and rooftops. In addition to treatment of stormwater, a bioswale helps to prevent flooding.

A regenerative stormwater conveyance is simply a bioswale with a series of shallow rain garden area "steps".  These rain garden style pools slow down fast running water and allow it to soak into the ground, reducing erosion. The area at the highest point will fill up and the water will flow into the next lower point and so on. These rain garden steps drain into a bioswale to continue moving the water.

¿Qué es el drenaje sostenible y la conducción regenerativa de aguas pluviales?

El drenaje sostenible típico es largo, lineal y poco profundo sembrado con plantas. Se usa para recolectar agua de escorrentía de superficies duras como calles, estacionamientos y azoteas. Además del tratamiento de aguas pluviales, un drenaje sostenible ayuda a evitar inundaciones.

Una conducción regenerativa de aguas pluviales es simplemente un drenaje sostenible con una serie de áreas de jardines de lluvia superficiales como "escalones". Estas jardines de lluvia desaceleran el agua que corre rápidamente y permitan que se absorba al suelo. El área del punto más alto se llena y el agua fluye al siguiente punto y así sucesivamente. Estos escalones de jardines de lluvia desembocan en un drenaje sostenible que seguirá conduciendo el agua.
